He is famous and recognized as a literary genius and as a writer, novelist, playwright, journalist and social critic. He has given public readings of his works on popular tours in Britain and the United States. Dickens' writings have been translated into many languages and adapted for film and other media. Dickens was an advocate for children's rights and the status of women. He died aged 58.
